@NYNightlife: Rebecca Minkoff + Casio Launch Party

A small collection of fashion personalities and press gathered at Lower East Side bar The Back Room last night to fête handbag and accessories designer Rebecca Minkoff’s latest effort: a collaboration with Casio, makers of the ubiquitous G-Shock and Baby-G watch lines.

Guests sipped champagne and cocktails from the venue’s signature white teacups while DJ Harley Viera-Newton spun both classics and contemporary hits (Scissor Sisters’ “(I Don’t Feel Like) Dancin'” was a crowd pleaser). Casio G-Shock and Baby-G watches were displayed in glass showcases scattered throughout the bar, and the small, single-room venue kept the crowd close (but not cramped).

Fans of Minkoff’s downtown chic handbags and accessories will gravitate toward her Baby-G, made of stainless steel with a rosy pink face to reflect the designer’s urban-meets-girly aesthetic. The Rebecca Minkoff Baby-G retails for $200 and will be available this month at select boutiques, department stores, and jewelers.
